Anne Lenoir, clarinetist, has a career which spans many diverse genres of music. Born in Washington, DC to a family of professioinal musicians, she grew up in Tampa, Florida, where she played in the Tampa Philharmonic and St. Petersburg Symphony for two season starting when she was 15. She later graduated from the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music. Her teachers include Ted Hegvik, David Weber and George Waln. While studying at Oberlin, Annie developed a strong interest in improvization and studied flute and saxophone as well as clarinet. Although she loved performing in the Oberlin Orchestra, she had a deep yearning to play blues and jazz, which were not offered in the curriculum at that time. When she left Oberlin Annie decided not to pursue an orchestral career and moved to Colorado Springs, CO, where she played clarinet, saxophone, flute, keyboards and singing in various ensembles for the next 30 years. She taught herself how to program electronic keyboards and has created over 500 electronic orchestrated sequences during her career as a people's clarinetist and entertainer.

Annie has received great joy from her participaton in recent clarinet events, including a performance in Dr. David Etheridge's Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium 2002, and a spontaneous jam at ClarinetFest 2001 during Eddie Daniels master class, which was televised last fall on CBS's Sunday Morning. Annie has enjoyed performances at Dr. Diane Cawein-Barger's Midwestern ClariFest, and Dr. Denise Schmidt's Appalacian Clarinet Retreat, and presented both ladies with quilts shortly after they received their doctorates. She is also very grateful to Rose Sperrazza, who wrote an article entitled, "Granny Annie Gets Her Act Together" in her column "Reed All About It" from the Sept 2000 issue of "The Clarinet"

In recent years Annie has performed with her husband, Don in "Ramlin Annie" and "Caledonia". She has been a member of the Little London Winds, a local wind ensemble directed by Jack Yonce, for 2 years. She has also worked for local band directors Dan Bell, Jack Yonce and Brian Critchlow as a Clarinet Secional Rehearsal person. Recently Annie performed the Weber Concertino with the Little London Winds, and she has been teaching privately in her Manitou Springs, Colorado Clarinet Studio for 2 years, where she resides with her husband Don, her cocker "Freckles" and her old cat, "Miss Kitty".
